Beta Persei, also known as the Demon Star, is a triple star system in the constellation Perseus; the Greek hero who famously slew Medusa.
Ancient astronomers feared its eerie blinking light, which Greek mythology associated with the flashing, stone-turning eye of Medusa as Perseus held her head in the sky.
In reality, the three bodies are trapped in a constant tug-of-war where one is actively siphoning gas away from its partner, shifting the system’s center of gravity. As this continues, the most massive star will eventually detonate in a violent supernova, leaving behind a stellar-mass black hole.

I’ve got both my parents, my maternal grandmother, and my younger brother with me. My brother is 7 years younger than I am, and my parents have been married since 2002. My mother was born in Brazil to an Italian family, coming to the States in 2001(great timing, Mom) to get a post-grad degree in pharmacy. My father is an engineer, just like his German father, and the only sibling to go to college. His mother is Jordanian(Arab), making him German-Arab. I am as culturally diverse as one can nearly get, and that is a big part of who I am.
